Coopérative des Producteurs de sel de l’Ouest Explore the salt marshes of Noirmoutier Island by bike

The creation of the cooperative of salt producers of the west, Noirmoutier en l'Île section, dates back to 1942.

Today, the cooperative brings together around one hundred salt workers, who cultivate approximately 2,300 salt pans. The harvesting method has remained unchanged for centuries, entirely artisanal, relying solely on the ocean, the sun, human labor, the wind, and clay.

To discover this ancestral craft and the salt marshes, free bike rides are offered from June to September.
