  We stayed here for our France trip and it was hands down our family's favorite place we stayed the entire time. We really can't say enough good things. Estelle and her daughter were amazing hosts - so helpful, so flexible, and clearly proud of the beautiful Gite they've created. This former 1840 chapel has been transformed into the most gorgeous, character-filled house, with all-modern furnishings and decor that somehow makes it feel both historic and completely fresh. It's about 30 minutes from Puy du Fou, but there are so many other nearby attractions we didn't even get to - which is honestly the best excuse to go back. If you want to get out of the typical American tourist traps and have a real, immersive French experience, make this an absolute must-stop. ROOMS Beautifully done - old chapel bones with high ceilings and tons of character, paired with modern furnishings and gorgeous decor throughout. It doesn't feel like a rental; it feels like a home someone put real love into. NEARBY ACTIVITIES 30 minutes from Puy du Fou (voted one of the world's best theme parks - worth the whole trip on its own. My kids said it is better than Disneyland). Beyond that, there's a great mix close by: a sanctuary/hillside site just a few minutes away, a river and watermill spot with boat trips, an old fortified castle, a lake with kayaking and paddleboarding, and even a life-size escape game. We only scratched the surface - plenty of reasons to plan a return trip. SAFETLY Felt completely safe and comfortable the whole stay - quiet, residential neighborhood, and the house itself is thoughtfully laid out for families with kids. WALKABILITY Very walkable. There's a cute little grocery store within walking distance, plus a bakery and a few other shops and restaurants nearby. It's a true French neighborhood - nothing touristy - which made the whole stay feel like a real immersive experience. FOOD & DRINKS The neighborhood has a genuine local bakery and a small grocery store, both walkable, along with a few restaurants close by. Locals know enough English to help you get by, but it still feels like real, everyday France - exactly what we were hoping for. NOTEWORTHY DETAILS This place is incredibly kid-friendly in the best way. There's a swings in the backyard. An indoor netted hammock with swings hanging above it, and the open-concept design lets you see and talk between the 2nd and 3rd floors - perfect for calling the kids down for snacks or letting them know it's time to go. Such a clever, thoughtful use of the old chapel's tall ceilings. We loved it so much and are already hoping to go back. Other nearby attractions (beyond Puy du Fou) Sanctuaire de la Salette (~5km) – hillside 19th-century religious site, open-air, free admission Maison de la Rivière (~9km) – river and watermill surrounded by unspoiled countryside; exhibition, boat trips, treasure hunt Château de Tiffauges (~20km) – historic fortified castle, known as "Bluebeard's Castle," with entertainment and shows on site Escape Game – Escape If You Can (~19km) – life-size escape room for groups of 2–6 Lac de la Bultière (Chavagnes-en-Paillers) – 13km loop trail around the lake, kayak/canoe/paddleboard rentals in summer Lac de la Tricherie (~17km) – supervised swimming, pedalos, canoeing, mini-golf, and treetop adventure courses (Tépacap) nearby Clisson & Hellfest site (~30km) – colorful town on the Brittany border with a medieval castle and the Garenne-Lemot estate

  Incredible site and such a warm welcome from Estelle! We spent three days and three nights there as a family to celebrate a birthday. Everything was perfect, and even in bad weather, everyone found their own space. A must-do!

  We rented this cottage for a weekend getaway with friends. There were 14 of us, and everyone loved it. The kitchen/dining area is spacious and very well-equipped, making meals extremely enjoyable to share. The rest of the cottage is equally impressive: the bedding is very comfortable, and the games room with darts and foosball provides plenty of entertainment. The sauna and the giant hammock with its two swings offer welcome moments of relaxation. The owners are also very responsive. We all thoroughly enjoyed our weekend and highly recommend this beautiful cottage, which has been beautifully renovated.
