Montaigu Towns and Villages in Montaigu-Vendée

Montaigu-Vendée is a large town in the Vendée which includes 5 towns including the town of Montaigu. It is a crossroads city in the north of the department, on a route of several major axes, in particular towards the Loire-Atlantique. Visit the Maison de la Rivière, a pleasant place to play a treasure hunt with the family, take a boat trip and visit a pretty mill which houses exhibitions.

Montaigu is an old city that dates from medieval times, there is also a castle where life was organized around it. The city is fortified and to perpetuate the defense of the castle, the dike of Montaigu (whose reputation precedes it thanks to or because of a bawdy song which made more than one laugh!) is built to form an impassable pond and slow down enemies.
