La Bergerie du Brandais, quality cheeses to be found in Vendée

Cheese is a true delight to be savored on a slice of bread, accompanied by honey, jam, or preserves, depending on your preference. Soft cheeses, pressed cheeses, fromage blanc, or fresh cheeses —the cheeses from Bergerie du Brandais are made with sheep's milk, a raw material sourced from the farm's own Lacaune dairy breed. In total, nearly 400 sheep graze on the farm, providing exceptional milk and dairy products with a unique flavor. Sold individually, by weight, or in platters, they can be enjoyed at any time of day, a true pleasure that can be mild, robust, or even florally flavored. The quality of Bergerie du Brandais cheeses has been recognized with three gold medals at the Lyon International Cheese Competition and by Gault & Millau in the 2024/2025 guide.

La Bergerie du Brandais, an organic, sustainable and ethical sheep farm in Vendée

In Talmont-Saint-Hilaire, Damien and Noémie raise and produce local products with a shared passion for the land and animals. Established on their farm since 2018, they care for their 400 ewes through sustainable and ethical farming practices, adhering to organic farming standards. Their 80-hectare sheepfold is comprised of 90% pasture, vast spaces cherished by the ewes, who graze for eight months of the year. At La Bergedie du Brandais, everything is done on-site, from raising the sheep to production, and from processing to sales, following traditional methods and artisanal techniques. Supported by a cheesemaker, two saleswomen, a livestock expert, and two apprentices—a dedicated and passionate team —Damien and Noémie possess the exceptional skills to create high-quality sheep's cheeses and other exceptional sheep's milk products.
