It's a pleasure to rediscover Café Gaïa in its new location—its third in four years. This unique café offers delicious and original cuisine. The daily lunch special, served from noon to 2 p.m. (or until supplies run out), changes every day of the week; it's always interesting and of good to excellent quality. Reservations are recommended. The menu is posted weekly on Facebook. The cakes are excellent, and I love the spiced hot chocolate in winter. Everything is homemade, and the lunch dishes inspire me to prepare simple meals at home. The prices, especially for lunch, are very low—probably too low. ---- I have visited the Gaïa Camellia Coffee Shop many times in the last four years since moving to France. It is one of the area's treasures. It has now reopened at its third location after closing for about five months to prepare the new space. The food is always homemade, serving cakes and drinks during the day and a simple one dish lunch, which changes each day, between 12 and 2pm or until the food is gone. It is best to reserve for lunch. The menu can be viewed on Facebook. The quality is always good and can be very good. The unusual lunches sometimes give me ideas for food to make at home. There is now a dish of the week, which I believe to be served all day or until finished. Originally when I visited the café, Fontenay was only 15 minutes drive but when I bought my house in the Marais Poitevin the journey became 40 minutes, and Niort is much closer. So my visits to Fontenay and in particular to the Gaïa Camellia Coffee Shop are less frequent now than I would wish.

In a cozy and elegant setting, you can enjoy a golden milk with a slice of crumble 🍹🌞 and everything will be perfect 😉 A new spot the region needed 🥳
