    • The Arundel Tower and the Saint-Clair Castle are located in the heart of the seaside resort of Les Sables-d'Olonne, on Place Maraud. It is a fortified bastion from the 15th century, topped by a stone tower. Although bombarded by the Dutch in the 18th century, it has been totally restored and is today in perfect condition. The castle has especially lived through the Wars of Religion. The visit allows you to access a large part of the buildings. It houses a Maritime Museum, with very realistic ship models. You can climb to the top of the tower, which offers a 360° panorama.

    Small museum but some interesting things there. Especially if you are into old sail boats and the history of the sea life. More modern navigation otherness on second floor. Over 100 good steps up to the to of the tower. Good view of the dock and sea walls, walls and marins plus a light house in the distance.

    La Rochelle used to be a nice place . Now cyclists rule the cité and you drive or walk at your own risk. Electric bikes and adolescents who try to out cycle any on. If I ever go back it will have to be by train.

    Un panorama à couper le souffle en haut de la tour. Après 125 marches en colimaçon vous arriverez sur la terrasse pour observer le chenal, la grande plage et la ville.
