About

  • English
    • At the far east of the department, almost on the border with Deux Sèvres, is Faymoreau, an old mining town. From this period, architectural traces remain: the Miners' Chapel (and its sumptuous and astonishing stained glass windows), the workers' houses with their gardens, as well as fishing pontoons on the lake, accompanied by picturesque colored huts. Visit the Center Minier de Faymoreau, a richly documented place, for those curious about this not easy time, when work was hard and life harsher than today.

Not far away is Foussais-Payré, a small town of character with elegant and sumptuous Renaissance architecture, to be visited thanks to a route through the town, decorated with panels.
