The Castle of Noirmoutier-en-Ile is an old fortified complex from the 12th century, built to protect Noirmoutier-en-île. This impressive building now houses a museum on the history of the island and the Middle Ages. The guided tour is very lively and will bring you lots of anecdotes about the attacks that the castle has suffered through the ages. From the top of the dungeon, you can see the whole island. Please note that it is closed during the winter, between December and the beginning of April.
