Family outing idea: Treasure hunt in Longeville-sur-mer

While you are on a walk near Longeville-sur-Mer, live the life of a pirate in search of hidden treasure! What could be better than a family activity, or to be carried out with friends, to discover or re-discover a territory? The treasure hunt is an ideal activity, because it is fun and relatively not very physical (except for the one planned by bike). It also allows us to open our eyes to the environment and the landscapes that surround us, to reflect and to learn to orient ourselves.

To go in search of said treasure no need to be called Jack Sparrow, nor to live on a pirate ship and even less to have a parrot as a companion. No no! A simple visit to the Longeville-sur-Mer Tourist Office (fr) is enough!

The Tourist Office: the start of your adventure

If you feel like an adventurer ready to do anything to find the hidden treasure, go to the Longeville-sur-Mer Tourist Office. Here you will have the choice between 3 different quests. The purchase of the map which will guide you from riddle to riddle has a cost of 8€ per family, or at least per group of pirates! Depending on the route chosen, it will last between 1h30 and 3h. Check with the Tourist Office to find out the specifics of each route (pedestrian or bicycle access, number of kilometres, starting point, etc.).

The good idea We recommend that you try the bike ride and the Talmont-Saint-Hilaire discovery circuit nearby.

Your mission entrusted by Yann le Borgne

It's a bit out of spite that dear Yann le Borgne asks for your help to finally discover the secret hiding place of the famous treasure of the pirate Eddie Barbe Rouge. He has been on his trail for a number of years already, but his search has always been fruitless so far. Maybe you'll be smarter than him?

The treasure hunt begins at the CRAPA car park. Armed with your map, begin to roam the national forest in search of clues that will lead you, we hope, to the long-awaited treasure. Take the circuit in the direction that pleases you and that seems most practical and logical to you.

The good idea A good idea for after the walk: The sunset on the tip of Payré!

Look around you and you will find the clues!

The ultimate goal is to find the clues and note the information related to them (numbers, words, drawings, etc.). Complete the back of your map as you go in order to have all the information necessary for a good understanding of the place where the treasure is hidden.

Write everything down on your roadmap

Once the search area is discovered, open your eyes. All means are authorized to find the safe, respecting the premises of course: no need to damage the premises to achieve your ends. But don't put up barriers, and think like a pirate. If you were Eddie Redbeard, where the hell could you have hidden your most expensive treasure so that it was safe from prying eyes and no one could accidentally stumble upon it?

All that remains is to find the hiding place

Once the secret cache has been found, and the joy has passed, head to the Tourism office to tell them what you have found, and thus recover your treasure.

Enjoy the landscapes around you

Although your primary objective is to solve the ultimate puzzle to finally discover the hiding place of Eddie Redbeard's treasure, don't forget to take advantage of the different environments around you.

Appreciate the forest and observe the different species of trees, the birds that flit from branch to branch and, depending on the season, benefit from a cool and shady place where it is good to take refuge when the thermometer rises!

The route crosses the national forest

After the forest and the shade, you will approach the coast and the sand will line the ground. Contemplate this intense blue ocean, as well as the horizon which is lost in the distance. Smell the good sea air, as well as the typical smell of the maritime pines that adorn these edges of the beach.

Thus ends your quest near the ocean. Hoping that this outdoor activity will have entertained young and old, and that it will have allowed you to appreciate the diversity of the Vendée landscapes.
